I agree. That’s part of why I made my own. I was originally a part of feddit.de and moved to feddit.org when they shut down. I was already hesitant because I could tell they were growing, but I didn’t expect then to as much as they did, lol

Yup! I’m not quite sure what kind specifically, but based on appearance and my location, I’m guessing a common house gecko. Could be a young mourning gecko, but I doubt it

I’m right there with you, lol. I have a LOT of hobbies. I’ve definitely got enough Lemmy content for the technical ones, lol. Though, I love writing and worldbuilding stuff, too, and communities for those exist, but they sadly aren’t very active. I of course like nature and wildlife if you couldn’t tell from the direction r1b.it is going. I love little taxonomy facts like this! One of my favorites is that Carl Linnaeus (the father of modern taxonomy) occasionally named animals to take jabs at scientific rivals.

His main target was a critic named Johann Siegesbeck. To get back at him, Linnaeus named a notoriously weedy, small-flowered, unpleasant-smelling plant Siegesbeckia orientalis.

I’ve never seen Attack on Titan and I feel like that’s an anime war crime. Is it worth giving a watch?

I’m only a few days in, but so far so good! I’m a huge tech and C programming nerd, but I’ve never done any sort of networking. I’m not physically self-hosting anything yet (though, I’d love to start once I get more settled into my new house), so I’ve enjoyed doing my research and trying to find companies I approve of. I’ve tried to keep it all EU-based for now because they’ve got the best privacy laws from what I’ve seen. I’m currently leasing some VPS space from Elestio, and they’ve been amazing, especially for the price. Highly recommend!

Edit: I’m struggling to see the point of Docker, though, especially since Lemmy is the only thing I’m hosting at the moment.
