    1. Don’t order
    2. Use package tracking and wait outside in advance.
    3. Use a package pickup station
    4. If you’re in the U.S., you’re a decade too late… Google Street View, etc.
    5. It feels so good to be German now that everyone has spent all these years making fun of us for worrying about privacy.
    6. You reap what you sow.

Worth noting for the second option, last time I had an Amazon package delivered, I saw the guy pull up, so before he got out of the van. I was waiting with my hand out; he didn’t say anything, but stepped past me to put the package on the porch and take a picture of that, then he picked up the delivery and handed it to me.

I live in a fairly rural area. I doubt there are any lockers near enough by to make it worthwhile. Maybe a PO Box.

Yeah, okay—of course you can’t compare the “thief-infested” U.S. to other countries. As a business, I’d definitely require proof photos there, too. You’d have to rebuild the entire U.S. from scratch. Here where I live, the drivers are happy when I meet them halfway so they don’t have to go all the way to my front door. And if I can pick up packages from my neighbors while I’m at it, they’re really happy.

My sympathy, however, has its limits. If the U.S. would just stop causing hundreds of billions in damages in Europe every year through industrial espionage, I’d have more sympathy. But I basically never hear any criticism of this—not even from U.S. citizens (at most, after comments like these, but you can’t really consider that their own criticism—it’s just agreement).
